 THE TAX GROUP

Founded in 1993 by Patti Logan, EA, The Tax Group has more than 40 years combined of private practice helping people and small businesses with their tax problems as well as having over 30 years combined experience working at the Internal Revenue Service.

We provide top-notch representation and tax preparation services for the individual and small business along with great customer support - a combination that can't be beat!  Through our commitment, experience, and expertise we have established a business relationship with our customers that will last a lifetime!


Patti Logan, EA

Patti has been an enrolled agent since 1993.  Prior to becoming an enrolled agent, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service, first as an insolvency  technician, then as a revenue officer and finally as an offer in compromise specialist.  Patti and her husband, Richard, decided to leave the IRS and  formed The Tax Group.

Patti is recognized as one of the top tax professionals when dealing with collection problems with the IRS.  She specializes in helping people and companies who have either not filed their tax returns or who owe taxes.

Along with representing taxpayers who have tax problems, Patti also speaks all over the country to other enrolled agents, CPAs and attorneys.  She has spoken at The Tax Alliance Conference, The National Association of Tax Professionals, Plano Area Enrolled Agents, several CPA firms, the Texas Society of Enrolled Agents, American Society of Tax Problem Solvers and for many other organizations.  Patti has been a dean of the National Tax Practice Institute.  Patti has also served as an expert witness on several tax cases and in civil litigation. 

Patti was a columnist for CCH's Journal of Tax Practice and Procedures, a semi-monthly journal for many years.  She is also a contributing author for PPC's Dealing With The IRS.

Patti served in multiple positions for the Texas Society of Enrolled Agents including president and as a representative on the North Texas Representation Liaison.  She is also the past chair of the North Texas Tax Alliance Conference, former president of the Plano Area Enrolled Agents.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Tax Alliance Conference, a Texas non-profit corporation.

Education

Along with teaching others, Patti takes over 40 hours of continuing professional education annually to stay current on the continually changing tax laws.

  Richard Logan, EA 

Richard worked at the Internal Revenue Service for over 20 years.  He worked at the IRS Austin Service Center in a non-filer unit before becoming a revenue officer.  After several years as a revenue officer, he worked as an analyst at the IRS National Office designing the Integrated Collection System.  After the new collection system was installed and tested, he returned to Dallas as a revenue officer. 

Since 1995, he has been an enrolled agent, specializing in helping people who have not filed their returns for many years.  His years working in the non-filer area of the Internal Revenue Service help him guide his clients to reconstruct their financial records when they have not filed.

Richard served as the president of the Plano Area Enrolled Agents and also on the Board of Directors for the Texas Society of Enrolled Agents and the Executive Committee of the Plano Area Enrolled Agents.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Tax Alliance Conference, a Texas non-profit corporation.

Education

Richard takes well over 40 hours of continuing professional education annually to stay current on the continually changing tax laws.
